Are hormonal changes making it harder to lose weight? Have you developed a condition known as Leptin Resistance?

This test identifies your leptin level, a key step in tackling hormonally- triggered weight gain.

Fasting Glucose
(Blood Sugar)

Fasting glucose -- blood sugar -- is one of the most important ways to determine if you have blood sugar irregularities, insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, or even diabetes.

This test measures your morning fasting blood sugar level. Levels above 100 may indicate insulin resistance, above 110 may point to prediabetes, and above 120 can suggest diabetes.

How it Works:

It's simple to use MyMedLab for your testing. Just follow these steps:

  1. Set up a MyMedLab Account

  2. Order the tests you want

  3. Pri  nt out a lab slip for blood and urine tests for your pre-paid tests

  4. Take your lab slip to one of 2,000 local laboratories near you in our network, and get your tests done

  5. MyMedLab will notify you by email when your results are available in your secure online Personal Health Record

  6. Go online, and review your results! It's that easy!

Note: For saliva and stool tests, a kit is mailed to your home. You send your samples back in the pre-paid mailer, and MyMedLab will notify you by email when your results are available.

Want to Monitor Your Blood Sugar at Home?

If you want to monitor your daily fasting blood sugar, your blood sugar throughout the day, or your blood sugar's response to different foods, you should definitely get a personal blood sugar/glucose meter. You may be able to have your doctor prescribe it, in which case it may be covered by your health insurance or HMO.

You don't need a prescription to buy a blood glucose meter, however, and the meter itself is not expensive. (You do, however, also usually need to buy test strips separately-- they don't come with most meters.)

Which meter to choose? I recommend the Onetouch Verio IQ  . (This is the meter I use.)

A low-cost option is the Easy Touch Health Pro Diabetes Testing Kit from Amazon, which includes an Easy Touch Meter, 100 Glucose Test Strips, 100 Lancets, a Lancing Device, Manuals, Log Books & Carry Case, for $37.99 - Get it from Amazon.com
